Just to check that anyone can post on this blog ...
I noticed that people seem not be using the forum enough for exchanging information about "Argo basics", as proposed and decided at ADMT8. Yet at the same time, we can see that the students here at CSIRO do ask a lot of basic technical questions on the intricacies of using Argo data. These questions may range from using Matlab to process Argo QC flags to handling Argo data in NetCDF format. We answer these questions individually, but it is clear that many of these answers can benefit other students who elsewhere are asking similar type of questions. A web-based forum is a very efficient venue for hosting and storing information produced by such communication flows. But first, people must start to use the forum by posting questions/answers on it. Once started, the process will make the forum more and more meaningful and useful. Is it possible that currently people are not yet sufficiently aware of the existence of such a forum ? How can we make its existence more prominent ? Would it help to add a link to it from the main page of the AIC ? (at least for the time people gain familiarity with it). The current URL name "argo3000.blogspot.com" seems to suggest the link points to the single event of the Argo 3000 milestone. Maybe a simpler and more generic URL name eg "argo.blog.com" could help get people's attention more easily ?I think it's really useful that you created this tool for helping communication among Argo users, it deserves to be better known and used to the benefits of the Argo community.Tseviet Tchen.CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, Hobart, Australia
Perhaps a link to the blog might be posted on the "Argo Oceanography" page on Wikipedia.
I've done that, added a link to this Blog on the Argo Oceanography page on Wikipedia.
I think that it can be very effective to advertise the Argo forum on Wikipedia by adding a link to it on the article about Argo. Great idea. I am wondering whether Mathieu would be in position to do this ?
Great Argo blog..nice discussion...Argo helps me in my research,,,best regards,Aji PPhttp://ajiputrap.blogspot.com/
